In March 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic began it's ascent, Jess and I were on the brink of the initial lockdowns. As Jess is such an outgoing and outdoorsy person, we were both aware that she would struggle being cooped up. So we decided to start a film blog to pass the time.

This is the original "About Us" section: The world has kind of gone crazy, as the coronavirus spreads. We (Jess and I) live in London, and it is the general consensus that we will be put into some sort of lockdown any day now. Which for a number of reasons is terrifying. It's also a little boring. So, in a silly attempt to keep our sanity in these trying times, we decided to watch a few films and review them. We are not professionals, by any stretch of the imagination. We're just two bored individuals with a few opinions, trying to pass some time. If you're still reading this, I'm a little surprised. But, thank you. And, welcome!

As we came out of the lockdowns, and returned to our normal life, we realised that we had burned out. Attempting to watch and review a film every day was foolish. However. After a couple of years, Jess really missed it. So after a brief discussion, we decided to revive the blog with seasons. Each season will have a theme. Ten films a season, five picks each. And we'll stick to the 400 word mark - though initially Jess believed this to be 450.

I’m Jess, nerd and horror-junkie. I’ve always loved the movies - so much so that I thought I’d end up working in them. Spoiler, I did. And I hated it. I much prefer watching and reviewing them.

With a degree in model-making, I worked as a prop-maker for several years and put my name to two films, Ready Player One (2018) and Early Man (2018), but now find myself considering other pathways in life. Alongside film, I love drawing, fitness and animals, even regularly volunteering at a farm.

My top five films (in no specific order) are - Reservoir Dogs, Silence of the Lambs, The Shining, Mad Max: Fury Road and Midnight In Paris.

I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Film and Broadcast Production. While education has always been a struggle for me, I was enthralled by storytelling. So studying the medium of film held a strong appeal. After university, I self-published a novel and two novellas. My favourite being The Diary of a Madman in a Crazy Place.

When healthy, I enjoy running half-marathons. The mental and physical exertion is painfully exhilarating. I also enjoy lounging about with Jess, playing Left 4 Dead.

My top five favourite films are currently (in no order):  Howl's Moving Castle, Warrior, Mean Streets, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,  and, Spotlight.
